ESRI-SC
has significant capabilities and experience
for conducting both basic and applied
research in groundwater hydrology and
modeling. Our integrated approach to
groundwater studies combines geology,
hydrology, and geochemistry with advanced
computer applications for the
characterization of groundwater systems and
prediction of flow and solute transport.
ESRI-USC has know-how in groundwater
hydrology, flow and transport computer code
development and modeling, geostatistics,
aquifer test analysis, and advanced site
characterization.
ESRI-SC
maintains electronic data loggers and
pressure transducers for long-term
monitoring and hydrogeologic
characterization via aquifer tests and
single borehole tests.
ESRI-SC has perfected a field
technique to conduct slug tests in cased
wells and temporary packer assemblies via
casing air pressurization that provide high
quality data with no investigation derived
waste.
Computer modeling of groundwater
flow and solute transport also is a
significant part of our environmental
research capability.
ESRI-SC maintains a wide array of
hardware and software dedicated to modeling. In addition to modeling applications we are conducting
research on advanced techniques of coupled
simulation and optimization for managing
groundwater systems for either water supply
or environmental restoration.
ESRI-SC capability includes both
analytical and numerical modeling using
recognized computer codes such as the US
Geological Survey code MODFLOW along with
pre- and post-processing software.
We also have experience in the
application of geostatistical techniques to
the evaluation of heterogeneity and spatial
variability of flow and transport phenomena.
Finally, ESRI-SC can evaluate and present
the results of field and modeling studies
via sophisticated 3D visualization software.
