Geographic
Information System (GIS) methodology has
been developed to evaluate and map the
"contamination potential" or
aquifer sensitivity of the upper groundwater
flow system at DOE’s Savannah River Site
in southwestern South Carolina. The
integration of diverse subsurface and soils
information is possible using a stack-unit
mapping approach. This is the first time
that a stack-unit mapping approach,
developed in the Midwest for mapping glacial
sediments, has been used to delineate
geologic materials in a coastal plain
environment
