Data  Processing

Seismic Processing Flow:

All the M-Area seismic data were processed at ESRI's processing facility at the University of South Carolina using the SierraSEIS software package. Coherent noise attenuation and near surface statics determination were major challenges.

Raw and preprocessed shot from line M-2.
Note strong ground roll.
180 ms data displayed.

Raw VSP from well MSB-9A.
Depth increment 5 ft, range 10-215 ft
Source offset 50 ft
.

Flow:
  • Reformat SEG-2 to SEG-Y
  • Debias / Notch filters 60, 120, 180 Hz
  • Spherical divergence
  • F-K filter
  • Trace edits / Geometry
  • CDP sort
  • Spiking deconvolution
  • Bandpass filter
  • Datum statics (262.5 ft, 2953 ft/s) / Bulk shift
  • Iterative velocity analysis (constant vel stks) & residual statics
  • Residual statics (surface consistent) iterative with vel analysis (2 iterations)
  • NMO / Mute / AGC
  • CDP stack w/root n scaling for QC
  • Bandpass filter / 3 pt Trace mix

------------------>

  • AGC
  • Trace amplitude balance / AGC
  • Migration (finite diff.)
  • Display
  • Bandpass filter
  • Trace amp. Balance / AGC
  • Display
