Seismic Data Processing

Initial seismic processing was performed in the field on laptop computers. This processing produced stack sections with residual statics applied. After the field crew demobilized more extensive processing was undertaken at ESRI's data processing facility.

Onsite seismic processing and interpretation at Milford, NE

In the Field Data Processing Flow:

  • Vibroseis correlation with aux channel

  • True amplitude recovery - T**n power scaling

  • Geometry definition / Trace edits

  • AGC - 150 ms

  • FK filter - reject linear noise

  • Bandpass filter

  • CDP sort

  • Velocity analysis (constant vel. stks)

  • NMO / Bandpass filter / AGC-150 ms

  • Stretch mute - 30 percent

  • Datum statics (1448 ft, 1000 ft/s)

  • Residual statics (stk power optimization)

  • CDP stack w/root n scaling

  • Bandpass filter

  • Spectral whitening

  • Trace mix - 5 pt center weighted

  • AGC - 150 ms

  • Display

Laboratory Data Processing Flow:

  • Reformat field Data - SEG-D to internal format

  • Vibroseis correlation with synthetic sweep (SEG-Y out)

  • Trace edit / First break mute

  • True amplitude recovery - T**n power scaling

  • Geometry definition & assignment

  • Surface consistent amplitude scaling - source & receiver

  • Wavelet extraction / Minimum phase conversion

  • Surface consistent deconvolution - spiking (40 ms op)

  • Bandpass filter / AGC - 50 ms

  • FK filter / Remove AGC

  • CDP sort

  • Velocity analysis (constant vel. stks & vel. spectra)

  • Spectral whitening

  • NMO / Bandpass filter / AGC - 75 ms

  • Stretch mute - 30 percent ---------> QC Stack

  • Surface consistent residual statics (max. stk power algorithm, 11 tr pilot, 3 ms max static)

  • CDP stack w/root n scaling - adjust to final datum

  • Spectral whitening

  • Trace mix - 3 pt center weighted

  • FX deconvolution

  • Time variant filter

  • AGC - 150 ms

  • Display
