Water Quality

There has been a continuous, pressing need for the USDA to target limited financial and technical resources at the nation’s most valuable watersheds and impaired watersheds.

To address programmatic and Conservation Technical Assistance (CTA) issues, ESRI-USC efforts have been aimed at improving the quality of the field conservationist’s work, and reducing the time taken to do this work.  To this end, ESRI-USC a number of desktop and web-based applications (see “Application Development” tab) in conjunction with the NRCS in South Carolina, with input from the NRCS in other states as well as Technical Service providers, (or TSP’s).

We have not stood still, and are working with the NRCS in South Carolina on a variety of new applications, while we retain our commitment to support and train the users of current applications.

New developments in the works include:

  • Easy documentation for CNMP’s – getting data out of AFOPro and into the CNMP document.

  • Modular Fertilizer recommendation calculator for AFOPro – coming for SC, VT, TN

  • Automated Resource Management System (RMS) - CPPE assessment

  • Automated practice buffer and line calculator

  • ArcIMS® spatial soils revisited in South Carolina

  • C-Graz will be adding dairy and goat operations to its functionality
